WOW! Thanks to everyone who participated in the first Game Night sponsored by the ROMEO Men's Activity Group!
It was a GREAT night of fun, with lots of different games being enjoyed. The food? Absolutely delicious! The company? Fantastic! The poker? Well, at least TWO players are happy! Again, thanks to all who helped set up, those who cooked and EVERYONE who came to have fun! We are planning another night soon! See you then! Greg "Not The Actual One" First, I want to thank everyone who participated in the first Horseshoe Tournament sponsored by the ROMEO Men's Activity Group.
It was a fun event that provided an opportunity for people to enjoy the game of horseshoes while making some new friends and meeting new acquaintances. For me it was a learning experience in having to deal with some changes in scheduling due to some unavailable/missing participants. This experience will better prepare us for future tournaments of this nature. Finally, here are the results: In the final round of the singles competition "Gentleman" Jim Gibson bested Ron "the Wizard" Wozniak, two matches to one, to claim the Championship. The final match was more like an endurance contest for these seasoned players as they battled the elements and fatigue to complete these games. For the doubles competition it came down to a final round where the team of "Dangerous" Doug Prybylowski and Dan "The Hammer" Hines faced off against the team of "Gentleman" Jim Gibson and John "The Groundskeeper" Breidel. Despite unwavering enthusiasm the team of Doug and Dan succumbed to the veteran like approach of Jim and John, losing the final match, two games to none. There will be a plaque on display soon in the HOA Clubhouse with the names of both first and second place finishers in this Tournament. Once again I want to thank everyone who participated in this event. There will be more to follow. I also want to particularly thank John Breidel for all the work he did initially on the horseshoe pits months ago when we first started, ,the days leading up to the event and particularly during the tournament itself. Great work John ! Now it's time to plan the next event. Thanks again for your participation. Bob Hall "The Actual One" |
